The Foresight GC3 is the latest version of their award winning GC2 indoor golf launch monitor. The GC3 is a step closer to their high end GC Quad by adding the ability to measure club data as well as ball data. It is one of the best launch monitors available today and would be on my short list were I building my golf simulator now.

The GC3 from Foresight

Foresight is a leader in launch monitors. In 2022 they were acquired by the same group that owns Bushnell. Their latest launch monitor comes in two styles. The fully unlocked GC3 vs a Bushnell Launch Pro which offers a lower price point but comes with on-going subscriptions for all of the features to be unlocked. It’s kind of confusing but if you are a buy it once kind of guy then you should look at the cost of ownership of this top of the line personal launch monitor.

Usually my reviews come from personal experience. However I do not own a GC3 as I bought a GC2 back in 2019. The “3” was not on the market when I first built my simulator so I have not personally used it. However this review comes from my research and study of the GC3 and from the personal experiences I’ve read and followed on Discord.

Many of the guys on the simulator golf tour (and therefore GSPro) are using it and it’s twin brother, the Bushnell Launch Pro with much success. Let’s get into the GC3 review and peel back the curtain on this device.

GC3 Data

The Foresight GC3 collects both ball data and clubhead data.

  • Ball Speed
  • Horizontal Launch Angle
  • Vertical Launch Angle
  • Total Spin
  • Side Spin
  • Spin Axis
  • Carry Distance
  • Club Head Speed
  • Smash Factor
  • Angle of Attack
  • Club Path

*Club data requires a club marker dot – one tiny dot in the center top of your clubhead.

Simulator Software Compatability *GSPro Official Integration!

Foresight is built to work with FSX Play out of the box. It is their in house brand software and by all accounts it is very solid.

Which software will the GC3 work with?

  • FSX Play
  • FSX 2020
  • FSX Pro
  • GSPro
  • e6 Connect

Here is an example playing FSX Play vs their previous version called FSX 2020.

3rd Party Software Integration

Yes, you can play GSPro. Became official in Q3, 2023.

Before then, GSPro worked with the GC3 via a 3rd party connection app.

You can keep up to date with the latest patches and third party apps in the discord channel dedicated to the GC3 and Bushnell Launch Pro (see the discord channels here and here).

GC3 vs Bushnell Launch Pro “BLP”

The GC3 from Foresight is an ‘unlocked’ and ‘fully open’ version of the Bushnell Launch Pro. The BLP requires an on-going subscription to unlock all of the features and data points of the launch monitor.

The price of the GC3 direct is around $7500 for their ‘essentials plus bundle’. It is around $9000 for their “players bundle”. The differences are that you get 20 courses with the players bundle and 10 in the essentials bundle. Everything else is the same.

To utilize the GC3 and GSPro you will need to use the FSX software interface (no longer require) as well as a third party solution to keep the system and GSPro talking as they should.

The Bushnell Launch Pro comes in at a lower initial price point of $4000. This price point gets you the ‘basic’ subscription for a year and then is $249 each additional year. You can also upgrade to their silver at $499/year or their gold at $699/year. To get 100% of the unlocked features it does require the gold subscription. To work with GSPro you only need the basic package.

Physically, you are getting the same machine, the BLP is just branded as a Bushnell product.

GC3 FAQ

Q: Is there a protective case for the GC3?
A: There does not appear to be an official case offered by Foresight. However I found this homemade one for sale on Etsy.

Q: Is the GC3 Accurate?
A: Yes, very. Sub-millimetre accuracy. It measures data, not calculates it (like many radar based launch monitors). Here is a comparison video of the GC3 vs Trackman.

Q: Is there any subscription required for the GC3?
A: There does not appear to be at this time, although at time of publishing there are rumors of this coming in the future for new sales (I.E going more the bushnell model)

Q: Is the Bushnell Launch Pro and the GC3 the same thing?
A: More or less. The GC3 is the “Unlocked” version of the BLP. With the BLP you only get certain data points and functionality unless you pay for the subscription.

Q: Do you have to use any stickers for the GC3?
A: Yes for club data, no for ball data. You have to put one sticker on your club face only.

Q: Do you have to use special balls for the GC3?
A: No – use any ball you like or the ones you normally play. No stickers necessary.
