As I wrap up my first year as a golf simulator owner I thought it might be fun to do a wants and wishes for my absolute favorite simulator software called GSPro.

This software is actively being developed by a talented group of simulator golf enthusiasts who also have the skillset to bring an extremely high quality simulator software to market. I’ve been playing on GSPro for about six months now after first playing on TGC2019 for about six months.

This listicle is just some of the long term things that I wish the software had.

Replays

Hole in 1 on number 8 at Bonville, a real course in Australia. I had re-started my round on hole 7 from earlier in the day.

If you hit an amazing shot it would be awesome to be able to watch and save a replay. I hit my first hole in one and had no way to record the shot, but I did get a picture of scorecard. This is just a want for the future, it does not change the playability which is the developers current focus. It would be cool to save and share replays and also help grow the interested user base of players and GSPro potential customer base.

Does A Sim Hole In One Count?

My golfing buddy Kirk said it counts! Good enough for me!

Kirk heard about my Hole in One and got me this awesome plaque!
And here it sits next to the “OnTheGreen” leaderboards.

He’s the man and made me this plaque to remember it with.

Here is the hole I hit it on:

This is the hole in one hole for me, #8 at Bonville – a club in Bonville, Australia.

Move the Upcoming Shot Details Over to the Right Hand Top Corner

This move is so when a right handed golfer is at address they can easily glance up and see upcoming shot details (which are listed there under the player name “OnTheGreen”… I.E170.3 yards and 5.6 feet uphill.
When at address as a right hander I have to look back over my left shoulder to see shot details when ideally I could just glance upwards without having to twist around. Just move the data and info that sits on the left top corner to the right top corner and vice versa.

Flag Finder – See The Flag Easier – March Updated With a Great Visual Flag!

The truth is that the damn flag is hard to see. It’s currently black and gold which blends in near perfectly with the backgrounds when you are on your approach shot. Now fixed with a yellow flag and a large banner to see the flag.

Can you find the flag here?

*1/26/21 edit in the current GSPro software they have made the flags bright yellow and are much easier to see!

It’s nearly impossible to see the flag. It would be nice if you could click a button or have an option to be able to pinpoint the flag from your approach shot.

In the JNPG game, the flag runs forward to you then back to it’s place once when you click the ‘flag’ button. Something like this would be super helpful.

It is worth noting that you can hit the F3 button and zoom into the flag. If you have used your mini-map to point to a landing spot, pushing F3 the first time will give you a visual of that location. Press again to see the green and press the final time to get back to the shot.

In Between Holes Scorecard Three Second Display

It would be very cool to have the scorecard flash up for three seconds at the end of each hole so we could get a quick shot of the current scorecard. Or at least an option to turn this on or off. You can easily go and click the scorecard but I would like something that automatically does this and then takes it away at the conclusion of every hole.

Pop this up for 3 seconds in between each hole (or have an option to toggle this on/off for those speed golfers).

Current Score Always Shown Somewhere

*edit in the latest software 1/26 this is now displayed! (and works great imo!)

So when you are in a local player match and when you are in the middle of a hole, you can only see the person who’s shot it is score. It’s not a big deal but just one of those wishes and wants.

Don’t get me wrong, the way the scores are displayed to the right of player names works pretty well. The only time you can’t see current scores is when the hole is underway and players have hit their first shot. The display shows you what shot you are on in that particular hole (which I also like).

Ideally I would like another small column beside the players name showing current score. This is not such a big deal but just an “If I’m listing all the wants and wishes I can think of type of thing.”

Scramble Mode Is Here (Or Nearly Here) Even for Online Play

*Now available in the latest mode 1/26 update!

Playing sim golf scramble mode is arguably the most enjoyable way to play when you are having fun with friends. It’s faster and honestly more enjoyable to have a team mate to play with and or against another team.

At the time of this publication, a small group of testers are playing an online scramble beta mode. Local users can play scramble now. Just color code your teams after choosing scramble from the drop down box.

Driving Range Shot Tracker

It would be cool to have your shots tracked on your driving range sessions. Either by club or by session all together. Be nice to see the entire flight paths of each shot and display on where all of the shots landed based on club.

Practice Mode Enhancements

Continue in practice mode as it was in PG when in on-course practice. Right now, you just have to guess based on what you see.

Drop a ball and then play it out.

Create entire “random” short-game practice mode. Where it drops you within a set distance from the green and you play it out.

  1. It would be great to be able to turn the tracer off. If there is a way please tell me because I’ve seen it turn off once on a glitch and it looked awesome. Very realistic! That would be a huge and simple upgrade.
